WHO WE ARE AND WHERE WE ARE GOING

Leadership Update

After decades of faithful service, our founders Curt and Helen Braun have stepped down from the Board. Curt poured his heart into building personal relationships with so many of you from the very beginning. His legacy remains the foundation we continue to build on today. The remainder of the original Board remains intact, including Shelley DeVault, Dale Lommasson, Peter Khoo, Xiou Xiou.

In June 2024, the Board entrusted the role of Chair to Wendi Akers, who brings a deep commitment to our mission and a clear vision for the future. We know that for some, change can feel bittersweet, and we are deeply grateful for your continued trust as we walk forward together.

Looking Ahead: Returning to Ukraine

As the war continues, many children are now being returned to Ukraine — either reunited with families, adopted by non-family members, or traveling back with their original residential institution groups. Sadly, this return is not always a return to safety.

Some of the institutions we have walked alongside have reached out to Lana while experiencing active bombing. The voices of caregivers and children remind us that war is not a distant backdrop — it is their daily reality. These are not statistics, but relationships we hold dear, with children and staff facing danger while trying to carry on with ordinary life. In the midst of such fear and uncertainty, something as simple as a warm coat can bring comfort, dignity, and the assurance that they are not forgotten. A coat is one small way to provide protection — yet what truly matters is continuing to walk alongside these children, to advocate for their rights, and to remain connected to their stories even in the hardest places.

Our Next Step: A Coat Drive for Ukraine

“Warmth in the Midst of War”: As children return to Ukraine, they face not only the dangers of war but also the bitter cold of winter.  We have the names of 300 orphans in need of a coat. A warm coat can bring comfort, dignity, and protection. Please help us reach our goal.

Here’s how your gift helps:

  • $30 = One Coat = One Warm Winter for a child.
  • Coats are purchased in Poland (where they cost less).
  • We cover transport across the border into Ukraine.
  • Each coat protects against the cold and reminds a child that they are not forgotten.
  • On our donation page, please select Ukrainian Program. All proceeds will go towards the purchase of coats until our goal of 300 coats is met.

Thank you for standing with us in this new season. Your prayers and your giving allow us to continue the work God has placed before us.
